Oregon Fall on the Ranch

Dorris Ranch has held a special place in my heart for the past 4 years, ever since I discovered it while looking for a wedding venue when my partner proposed to me. Life circumstances happened, and we ended up eloping, but it was one of the first places I thought of when considering photo shoot locations.

When you enter it, the first thing you notice is a beautiful vintage barn in a field of grass. The color of the wood is that perfect antique barn color (perfect for a photography backdrop). Then, as you continue along the path you find rows and rows of trees; it is a working hazelnut farm, or filberts as we call them in Oregon. The orchard creates deep shadows wrapping around gnarled tree trunks, the sunlight splashes through the green leaves, and the ground has the odd hazelnut in its peculiar spiky green blossom.

My second family photo shoot was able to take place on this beautiful land, nestled in the hills of southern Springfield, showing off all the photogenic glory of the Willamette Valley. While this warm year has meant some late fall colors, it was the perfect location for this photo session, exploring this beautiful place with a wonderful, lively and loving family.
