Two Weeks in April
Wow, what a crazy couple of weeks!
In the last 11 days, I have shot and edited four photoshoots. After almost a year of being a stay-at-home parent, it felt a little overwhelming, and playtime with my son has consisted of him stacking an entire toy chest worth of toys on my desk and me doing silly voices while he makes up the game.
That being said, I’m brimming with gratitude at having had so many opportunities to capture some truly gorgeous moments, and further develop my editing skills.
My first photoshoot of the past 2 weeks was a maternity photo session with a beautiful mama at Dorris Ranch, a local hazelnut farm with centuries-old barn and lovely park surroundings. It was a rainy day, but she and her family were such troopers, and we ended up with some truly gorgeous shots.
Three days later, I went to an old coworker’s apartment to take photos of his newborn, as well as their two toddlers. It was very special to get to take photos of the family in their familiar surroundings. I remember being mama to a newborn, and how challenging it was to get out and about. Add two toddlers and a pandemic to the equation, and I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to go out for a family photoshoot.
I was grateful to be able to capture their new baby and the whole family in a place that felt comfortable and safe to them.
Three days after that, on Friday my husband, son and I headed up to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm for their annual Tulip Festival to capture a stunning engagement photoshoot.
Working on these photos was truly a joy, the colors are so rich, the sun was in the perfect position for some glorious backlighting and golden lens flares.
Over the weekend my stepdaughter was visiting, and we took the opportunity on Saturday in between rain storms to stroll around the University of Oregon campus and take some senior-style portraits. She is a truly beautiful girl, and very easy to photograph.
After all of that, I’ve taken a bit of a break to get my breath back. My next shoot is coming up on Saturday, and I’m looking forward to it, but taking time in the meantime to get my house tidied up a bit, and lots of playtime with my boy! What a blessing to be able to pursue my passions; photography, and being a mama.
